This year of 2010 brings all the intensity, pressure, and pain that heralds the birth of a new life. Each of us, in unique and different ways are feeling the need to let go of old aspects of our lives, whether they be material, relationship, vocation, addictive habits, health issues, or psycho-spiritual belief systems that have supported us up to this point. Only through surrendering our fear of the unknown and facing ourselves in a new way are we able to gather the courage necessary to re-birth ourselves. 

Astrologically, this change is reflected in the great planetary alignments of this year including the transit of Chiron into the sign of Pisces this April.  Chiron, “The Wounded Healer,” shows us our greatest vulnerability which, when integrated, can become our greatest attribute. Through the study of this archetype we are assisted in making the right choices regarding what to hold onto and what to release not only this year but through the course of our lives. 

This workshop will focus on the meaning and purpose of the Chiron Journey and its significance, particularly in these times, in the process of Initiation. It will give you the insight, understanding, and will to recreate yourself anew with greater clarity and an open heart. Paradoxically, the opportunity to experience our magnificence, power, beauty, and love have never been better than at this point in time.

Friday evening will introduce the comet Chiron, its mythology and meaning for these times. Saturday will take Chiron through the signs and houses of your natal horoscope. Sunday we will look at the transits of Chiron in your chart to show where you are now being challenged to let go of the old and move into a whole new reality.

Forecast for August - October 2010

As I sit here the first week of July with the clean warm ocean breeze blowing gently through the door, life appears calm, beautiful, and serene.  When I turn on the internet and go out with friends the atmosphere quickly changes to one of concern, stress, and anxiousness over personal financial and relationship issues with stories of impending doom regarding the near and distant future.   Indeed, to look at the coming planetary alignments and relate them to previous historical events one could predict everything from total economic/governmental collapse to earthquakes and global war.  To say that we, as a species, have evolved past creating these types of manifestations is to close our ears, eyes, and minds to what we see going on around us.  However, the beauty of New Paradigm Astrology is not only that it gives us the timing and nature of external events but also the inner guidance on how to best evolve through these events.

First let’s look at the astrology.  August 21^st brings the third and last square between Saturn and Pluto since it began last November.  Through the month of August the great “T square” of 2010 continues with Saturn opposing Jupiter/Uranus while all three of them square Pluto in Capricorn.  Neptune and Chiron are floating around the cusp between Aquarius and Pisces.  Mars transits through Libra from July 29 to September 14^th and through Scorpio from then until October 27.  The important thing is to take all of these transits IN RELATION TO what we, as humankind, are creating and experiencing.  We have collectively created, over the last 6500 years (yes that is a long time!) of male dominated, patriarchal values and practices, societies, religions, governments, economies, atmosphere, oceans, habitats and an entire planet that are in crisis.

By the time you read this I would expect there to be numerous more  global environmental, atmospheric economic, and spiritual challenges.   Beyond that, and too numerous to mention are the wars and conflicts over property and power that will continue to escalate.  Herein lies a direct reflection of the current evolutionary state of humanity.  The Great Year (precession cycle of 25,765 years) that we are now completing, when divided into four (as in seasons) divisions of approximately 6500 years, shows a continuing tension (at times creative) between the masculine and feminine in all their manifestations.   Prior to the current patriarchal, male dominated structures that are now collapsing, there existed for 6500 years, matriarchal, female dominated social structures which were also unbalanced and unsustainable. 

The BP disaster vividly portrays the unevolved masculine principle which seeks to penetrate (drill) deeply into the feminine (earth beneath the ocean) for oil (energy, nourishment, sustenance). While the feminine has freely given of her resources and energy for thousands of years, the blatant disregard for her well being, vitality, and needs (reflected in the purity of the earth, air and water and the health of both the plant and animal kingdoms) has, and will continue to, cause damage, pain and suffering to all life on our planet.  Through this pain we will come to a greater consciousness of the interdependence, interaction, and true nature of both the masculine and feminine principles. 

Now we have Pluto and the Moon’s nodes moving through the signs of the Great Mother and the Great Father, creating a Grand Cross with the radically-expansive (Uranus-Jupiter) masculine in the warrior sign of Aries, opposing the Judge, Lord of Karma (Saturn) in the sign of The Other, Relationship, Justice, and Balance (Libra). This reflects the Great Reckoning, when we experience the results of our past  transgressions and are taught a deeper respect for natural laws and forces we were previously ignorant of.  No one has ever said that Initiation/Awakening/Enlightenment was an “easy” process.

These months herald the birth of a whole new understanding of what it means to be human (both masculine and feminine) that has been gestating for thousands of years, and is leading to ever “new and improved” forms of relating, co-existing, and loving.  In one way, I could see the underwater oil leak as a “breaking of the bag of waters” in preparation for the feminine to birth this “new future”.  With this in mind I will, for the first time, offer different advice for the women than for the men in this forecast.  For this is not only going on “without” but also “within”, the outer world being a manifestation of our inner reality and nothing more.  As each of us heals the puncture, the wound, and the imbalances within ourselves and becomes aware of, and corrects the mess we’ve propagated externally, we will be taking an active part in solving not only our personal problems but our current planetary crisis.

It is impossible to delineate the full nature of the feminine and the masculine in a short magazine article and I therefore refer you to my website for an expanded version of this article.  In short, it is up to the women to hold the energy of the immature male, to have perseverance, compassion for, and a greater understanding of his fearful, insecure grabbing and exploitation.   It is easy and “natural” to feel anger, disgust, and revulsion toward a seemingly uncaring, selfish, and ignorant male energy “ripping you off”.  Your path however, is to hold the energy, teach through example, and guide the masculine toward a self awareness that will heal the sense of separation which lies at the root of his desperation.

Men who are living through these times have incarnated to expand their knowledge, respect, and admiration for the depth, dimension, and wisdom of the feminine.  This will involve a humbling process as men, through their relationship with women, come to see and know themselves on ever deeper levels as a result of the feminine mirror, guidance, and presence.   For it is through the act of raising up the sacred feminine at this time that the masculine will itself be raised, glorified, and find peace.   Men can use the beauty and magnificence of the feminine in all its forms as a source to inspire ever greater and greater acts of creation, innovation, and protection.  While it is not easy to break the conditioning, expectations, and programming of parents, societies, religions, and sometimes even spouses that has gone on for thousands of years, this is the time to usher forth a new world order that both sustains, and proliferates harmonic balance between the sexes.

Lastly, I am reminded during these times of great astrological oppositions, that we are now moving beyond the world of polarity and into a world of Unity.  It therefore helps to be reminded of “the middle path”, the third pole, the law of three, or the trinity.  That in between Me and You (Aries/Libra) is WE, in between past and future (Saturn/Uranus) is NOW, in between up and down (Capricorn/Cancer) is HERE, in between the Masculine and Feminine is the DANCE OF LIFE. That in between Here and There is Everywhere, in between Birth and Death there is Life, and in between the Root and the Crown there is the Heart.
